Shaws, one of the country's longest established independently owned retail chains, is celebrating its 150th anniversary. The Fermoy branch was a hive of activity last Saturday as staff and customers marked this significant milestone.
Media partner, Red FM, were present to publicise the event and there were lots of giveaways and special offers.

Manager, Niamh O'Shea cut a specially commissioned cake and there was also a release of balloons from outside the store. Staff were attired in garb from 150 years ago - the costumes was generously provided by members of Fermoy Musical Society, who in turn benefitted from an instore coffee morning.

Niamh said the event was a great success and she thanked everyone who contributed in any way. Despite plenty of competition, Shaws continues to trade successfully and its Patrick Street outlet remains a flagship operation for the southern region.

In tune with consumer sentiment and offering an exceptional level of service, Shaws have plotted a steady course in retailing for 150 years. Strengthened by this experience, this wholly Irish owned organisation is facing the future with confidence.
