An avid hiker from Fermoy is preparing to climb to Mount Everest base camp with a group of 30 friends from around Ireland, all in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation.
Matt O’Reilly has already undertaken a number of technically difficult climbs around Europe and in Ireland, but this will be his biggest challenge to date.
“We’re quite big into the hiking and I suppose Nepal was something that appealed to everyone in the group. We were planning the trip anyway and then we decided we could raise money along the way.”
