Local volunteers and groups gathered outside the courthouse in Fermoy last Saturday morning to mark the start of Spring Clean Week in the town.
Part of the national programme organised by An Taisce, where April is promoted as an opportunity to clean up communities, Spring Clean Week marks the start of the busy season for Fermoy Tidy Towns.
This year, in recognition of the efforts made in achieving green flags, the seven local primary schools will be presented with an oak tree to plant on their school grounds.
The schools – St Joseph’s NS, Gaelscoil de hÍde, Bishop Murphy Memorial School, Presentation NS, Adair NS, Clondulane NS and Grange NS – were complimented by chairperson of Fermoy Tidy Towns Cllr Noel McCarthy, for their efforts in the Green-Schools programme.
