A large and excited crowd were at Hurley’s MACE in Carraig na bhFear last Saturday afternoon to welcome Santa. Arriving by tractor, courtesy of local farmer, Gordon Jones, ‘The Big Man’ didn’t come empty handed and it was a case of something for everyone in the audience, as he listened to requests, posed for photographs and distributed large amounts of chocolate.

There was a real festive air to proceedings, with seasonal tunes and complimentary coffee adding to the sense of occasion. The services of professional face painter, Mel O’Sullivan, were also in demand.

Having completed his meet and greet duties, Santa was called upon to adjudicate on a colouring competition. One of those taking part, 5th class pupil, Erica O’Sullivan, said she was delighted to be chosen as one of the winners; she was equally delighted when she opened her prize – a voucher for Smyth’s Toy Store!
