Local Kilbehenny farmer Maurice Walsh is soon to become a household name when he heads up a new programme for RTE television entitled ‘Farmer In Charge’.
A father of three, Maurice was asked to audition for the programme when he was approached at the ploughing championships last year.
“I was helping to display a Dairymaster milking machine at the show when I was approached and asked to audition for the show. Little did I think I’d get it, now the pilot programme is all set to go. However, no date has been fixed for airing it but hopefully it will be soon,” Maurice told The Avondhu.
Maurice (45) says he is both ‘nervous and excited’ as this was his first time to go in front of the cameras.
“It’s all new to me but it’s a great learning curve.”
