The second round of public consultation on the Sustainable Transport Corridors earmarked for development as part of the BusConnects Cork programme has been launched.

On Thursday last, the National Transport Authority (NTA) launched the consultation with the Preferred Route Options including 11 proposed Sustainable Transport Corridors across Cork City.

Preferred Route Options now include Dunkettle to Cork City, Mayfield to the city, Blackpool to the city, Hollyhill to the city, Ballincollig to the city, Bishopstown to the city, Togher to the city, Airport Road to the city, Maryborough Hill to the city, Mahon to the city and Kinsale Road to Douglas.

As well as the sustainable transport corridor, the plans also offer a host of alternative cycle facilities.

The public consultation runs from March 30 until May 25 this year.

ROUND 1 REVIEWS

News of the latest round of public consultation follows a previous consultation on the Emerging Preferred Routes between June and October 2022.

Following the first round of public consultation, the NTA has been reviewing the almost 3,000 submissions made by the public and engaging constructively with 35 residents’, businesses and special interest groups across the city.

Community forums were also established for each corridor to enable a two-way dialogue with local communities to help inform the review process.

As part of the public consultation, there will be a number of public information events held in locations around Cork during the month of April.
