Fermoy Community Youth Centre are finding their feet again after a devastating flood forced the centre’s closure on Tuesday, September 8, the Centre’s planned official reopening day.

“We’ve been working hard since last Tuesday week, since the morning of the burst pipe, to get the place back in order,” manager Kieran Barry told The Avondhu.

As previously reported, the flood was caused by a burst pipe in the main water supply to the centre, located in the attic. Electronics and much of the internal fixings in the centre were destroyed, with the main office being one of the hardest hit areas.

“There’s a lot of damage that has been done and we’re expecting it to be in the region of €100,000 and we’re not far off that mark at the moment,” Mr Barry said.
