‘I think we have to go back to the T.I.I. and say we’re not accepting this’
Cork County Council is to seek a meeting with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) following further delays to repair work of a section of footpath adjacent to Fermoy Town Park which has been closed for health and safety reasons since 2014.
In their latest update on the matter, TII has indicated that a consultant will be appointed by the end of April, with a view to carrying out the repairs in 2018.
This latest update follows a previous indication that repair works on the 40-metre length of footpath, which is barricaded off, would be carried out in the first quarter of 2017.
Speaking at this week’s Northern Committee meeting, local councillors proposed that a letter be sent to TII asking for a meeting with representatives with a view to speeding up the repair of the footpath, which has been described as both ‘an eye sore and a health and safety risk’ in Fermoy.
