More and more people are seeing the value in getting items repaired, giving some furniture a bit of TLC or finding new uses for things, than ever before.  Have you ever wanted to get something mended or fixed, but didn’t know where to go?

Limerick City and County Council is lending a helping hand by compiling a Repair Directory for Limerick.  The aim is to encourage repair and reuse as a method of reducing waste.  We would like to include as many repair services from across Limerick city and county as possible.

There will be no cost to the business to be listed in the directory but Limerick City and County Council cannot advocate or endorse any particular listing.

Sinead Mc Donnell, Environment Awareness Officer with Limerick City and County Council said that as well as being important to waste management, repair and reuse are also an important part of the local economy.

“The Council is hoping to capture information and make it available to the general public.  There would be no cost to a business to be listed in this directory.”

The following is a list of likely repair services that would be expected to be included are (not exhaustive):

Repair services would include such things as large and small  domestic appliances, furniture repair and upholstery, leather and shoe repairs, computer and mobile phones repairs, clothes alterations, bicycle repairs and servicing, musical instrument repairs, lawnmowers and garden machinery, watches and jewellery repairs etc.

If you have a repair business or are involved in the business of repair and wish to be included please email customerservices@limerick.ie or phone 061-496200.
