Receivers have been appointed to the Aperee Living Nursing Home in Conna following a series of HIQA reports that were critical of some aspects of the centre. The most recent HIQA report, which was published in February this year, expressed significant concerns about the business’s financial health saying that a review of the nursing home’s bank statements found two creditors were owed money.
News of the appointment of receivers to the Conna nursing home, as well as to Aperee Living in Bantry, were confirmed to Michael Collins TD last week who has since met with the receiver, and intends to meet with him again on Thursday this week. A public meeting on the matter was hosted by the Independent TD on Monday this week.
Speaking with The Avondhu on Tuesday, Mr Collins said that his concerns were that ‘what happened in Belgooly’ would be repeated. In October 2023, the HSE cancelled the registration of the Belgooly nursing home because of HIQA concerns, meaning families had to find alternative care homes quickly.
