‘Real stress on schools’ as secretaries and caretakers strike continues

Desks across the country are empty, phonecalls unanswered, emails unread, jobs unattended to as school secretaries and caretakers maintain their strike for pension parity. 

Indefinite strike action began on Thursday, August 28 in a campaign by Fórsa trade union to secure equal treatment and pension inclusion for over 2,600 school staff.

Among those striking is Margaret O’Hara, school secretary at Bishop Murphy Memorial School (BMMS) Fermoy, who has received the full support of the staff of the school.
