Supporters calling for the protection of the remaining Bessborough lands in Cork city have renewed pressure for government intervention, following An Coimisiún Pleanála’s decision to uphold permission for over a hundred apartments on the former mother and baby home.
The decision, granted with revised conditions on July 8, has met with anger and disappointment from survivors, families and supporters.
The original proposal had sought 140 apartments on the Blackrock site, but revised conditions had reduced the number to 106 units.
