President Higgins becomes patron of Sanctuary Runners

A not-for-profit solidarity movement founded by a Fermoy resident and supported by the town has been granted patronage by President Michael D Higgins.

At a special reception in Áras an Uachtaráin last week, President Higgins met with Sanctuary Runners’ founder Graham Clifford and other members of the organisation to announce the patronage.

“I am delighted to have become patron of Sanctuary Runners, a great solidarity-through-sport initiative that fosters friendship and respect for migrants, asylum seekers and refugees while bringing greater awareness of the migration system,” President Higgins said.
