An 11-acre site along the River Blackwater in Fermoy has been identified as a ‘significant opportunity’ to create a landmark educational, creative and environmental hub for the region.

Plans for the proposed project continue to be developed with the aim to transform a derelict riverside site into ‘The Blackwater Experience,’ a multi-use community destination focused on creativity, learning, community engagement and a River Interpretative and Visitor Centre.

The Blackwater Experience CLG is continuing to work on the development of the ‘Nature Based Regeneration for Fermoy’ project, which has been described as a transformative community-led initiative being developed in partnership with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership CLG.
