Plans for a new boardwalk to be developed on Kent Bridge in the heart of Fermoy town are currently underway.

Senior Engineer with Cork County Council Brendan O’Gorman, has confirmed that a feasibility study for a boardwalk to provide additional space to pedestrians and cyclists is about to get underway.

At a recent meeting of the Fermoy Municipal District, local councillor Noel McCarthy called on the council for action, highlighting the narrow footpaths across the bridge which adjoin three lanes of traffic.

“With Covid now, when people see someone coming, or a family coming against them, they have to walk off the footpath and on to the road…” Cllr McCarthy said.
