St Patrick’s Day Parade organisers were generally delighted with the turnout of their respective events this year.

“One of the biggest and best to date” was how Donal O Lochlainn of the Fermoy committee described theirs which was led by former councillor, John Murphy.

Led by Grand Marshal Fionn Herlihy, the Mitchelstown parade went off without a hitch and to add to its success, the rain thankfully stayed away.

Down South Limerick way, Jim Stapleton, secretary of Ballylanders Development Association, said he was delighted with how things went for their parade, adding that they were ‘blessed with the weather’ as the rain held off.

Staying in Co Limerick, the Kilfinane St Patrick’s Day parade was hailed as ‘one of the best we’ve ever had’ by the Community Council secretary Tommy O’Sullivan, attributing this year’s particular success to the way Kilfinane, Ballylanders, and Kilmallock worked together to mark the day.

The day was well marked too in West Waterford with locals from Cappoquin and its hinterland putting their best foot forward.
