There has been local outcry following the announcement by Bus Eireann that it will be suspending four expressway routes indefinitely, including the X8 Dublin to Cork route.
The X8 route runs six times a day and serves a number of towns including Fermoy, Mitchelstown, Cahir, and Cashel, along with stops at Newlands Cross, Heuston Station, and Eden Quay in Dublin.
Local man, Joe Tobin, told The Avondhu that the cutting of the X8 service will be ‘detrimental’ to the town.
“I’m calling on our TDs and councillors to be up in arms over it, it’s a huge issue. This bus is a vital service and you’d have people using it for hospital appointments,” he said.
