Ornua’s Mitchelstown plant is set to get major jobs boost as part of a multi-million expansion project, The Avondhu can reveal this week.
The plan is all part of a move to capitalise on the growing interest in Irish butter, particularly in Germany.
Cllr Deirdre O’Brien revealed the plan and said it is 'a hugely positive development' for farmers in North Cork and nearby counties. Welcoming the announcement, she said it is 'fantastic news for the area here at the foothills of the Galtees'.
“Ornua’s success began when it officially opening in 2016 at Mitchelstown on the Mallow Road, and has gone from strength to strength exporting to international markets, US, China and mainly Kerrygold butter to Germany where it is widely sought on the German Market.
