Mitchelstown native takes up law president post

A Mitchelstown native has been elected to the prestigious position of president of the Southern Law Association. 

Juli Rea grew up on the family farm at Marshalstown, before studying law which led her to be a partner at JRAP O’Meara Solicitors in Cork. 

Her appointment sees her as the first Mitchelstown resident to hold the post and the fifth woman since the 1870s to lead the organisation. 

Juli spoke to The Avondhu about her delight at her election and will now fill the seat for a year as head of the association, which is an advocate for the lawyers across the region. 

“It’s a great honour, I’m thrilled,” she said. “It is an unusual time to take over as president, but I am looking forward to hear from colleagues.

“We as an association support our colleagues, which in turn supports their clients …”
