Following a public meeting held in Fermoy last Thursday regarding the future upkeep and the history of the Old Kilcrumper Graveyard which was attended by more than 40 people, an ‘Old Kilcrumper Graveyard Friends Association’ has been established.
A temporary committee has been set-up and comprises of John Fenton, Christy Roche, John Murphy, Kieran Jordan, William Hughes and Kieran Moran.
One of the main takeaways from the meeting was the willingness of many members of the public to get involved in the clean-up, renovation and maintenance of the historic graveyard.
Helping to solve the question of insurance, which would be necessary if manual work was to carried out, Charlie McCarthy from McCarthy Insurance Group arranged to have the new association insured and to cover the costs involved himself.
The committee thanked Charlie for his kind generosity and swift work. It was arranged at the meeting to commence clean up and renovation work at the graveyard on Saturday, September 2nd from 10am.
The committee thanked all those who volunteered to help out, as without the public’s support, nothing would be achieved. They also asked anybody who would be willing to help to come along on the day.
