Once purchased, the old FCA Hall in Mitchelstown is to be renovated and upgraded for community use, according to Cork County Council.
Fermoy Municipal District Officer Pauline Moriarty, confirmed at a meeting on Tuesday that funding of €90,000 was received for the acquisition of the building which is underway and to be completed by November.
In July, it was announced that the former FCA Hall, a derelict site, was to be purchased and returned to public ownership after Cork County Council were successful in their application to the new Building Acquisition Measure.
Speaking at the meeting on Tuesday, local councillor Deirdre O’Brien welcomed the news of the acquisition, saying: “We’ve been harping on about this for a long time and it’s good to see that the acquisition is on the way.”
