Things are progressing well in the Araglin Racquetball Club end of year tournament. Overall, the standard has been pretty good with players improving as they get more game time.

Last week’s results

Jack Kearney 0 Dave Browne 2; Jim Kenneally 2 Mike Hynes 0; Mark Fitzgerald 0 Sean Og O’Doherty 2; Liam Carey 2 Pa Browne 0; Mikie Lyons 2 Sean Hegarty 1; Sean Motherway 2 Eoin O’Donovan 0; P.J. Ahern 1 Seamie O’Gorman 2; Dave Browne 2 Moss Reidy 0; Keelan O’Gorman 2 Conor Twomey 1; James Kearney 2 Donal Hickey 0; Jim Kenneally 1 Peter O’Loughlin 2; Ben Carey 2 Brendan Carey 0.

Some games yet to be played

There are a few games outstanding from earlier rounds that it would be good to get played off. These include: Ben Carey v Peter O’Loughlin; Darragh Allen v David Neligan, Mike Hynes v Paul Hynes, Diarmuid Allen v Michael Lyons Jr. and Tony Russell v John Browne Jr.

All these players’ details are on the club notice board so if a chance presents itself in the coming days, try and get these fixtures played, it would be appreciated by tournament organisers.

Newcomers and beginners being catered for

Seeing some of our elite players in full flow can be a bit intimidating for those who’ve only recently taken up the game so to cater for newcomers and beginners, a specialised training session takes place on Saturday next (13th December at 4.30pm) bring along your racquet, safety goggles and a couple of euros for the lights and away you go. We’ve also noticed that one or two lady players have gone into ‘hibernation’, hopefully, this is only temporary.

Bah, humbug - no Christmas holidays!

Players are reminded that Araglin racquetball court will be open all through the festive season (including Christmas day!).
