New cup honours legacy of Fermoy’s Derry Gowen

The Derry Gowen Cup, a cup named in honour of the late Fermoy native was presented to the winners of the McCarthy Insurance Group Cork County Divisions/Colleges Premier Senior Football Championship Final on Friday night. 

Carberry lifted the cup following Friday’s final, having battled Muskerry and coming out victorious with a 2-23 to 2-15 win. 

Derry Gowen, a Fermoy man born and bred, passed away in 2017, having served his club, his division, Avondhu, and the county, with distinction across various roles over many years.
