‘Solpadeine Is My Boyfriend’ is the title of a new play being staged in The Village Arts Centre on on Thursday, May 30, starring Stefanie Presisner. The Irish Examiner has given the play a 5-stars rating, dubbing it ‘a one woman tour de force’.

‘Solpadeine Is My Boyfriend’ is about the new Irish generation that were promised everything; a life of financial stability and job security but they now find themselves queuing either at the airport to emigrate or the social welfare office to sign on. This dark, delightful and intelligent comedy, tells of a generation that feel entitled not to experience depression, economic or personal, and whose availability to over-the-counter medication allows them to numb both.

Stefanie’s high-octane performance is broken up by moments of near stand-up comedy. The piece resonates with all Irish audiences regardless of where they are from due to the mass exodus of young people leaving for Australia, Canada and America.

Tickets are just €10 and are now on sale from The Avondhu office, Fermoy (025-32227); Cotter’s Bar, Kilworth (025-27109); Hyland’s Bookshop, Mitchelstown (025-24528) or on 087-6492514.
