Network Cork takes on Mini Marathon in support of Eating Disorder Centre Cork

Members of Network Ireland Cork are proudly taking part in the 2025 Echo Women’s Mini Marathon to raise vital funds for the Eating Disorder Centre Cork (EDCC) – a local organisation offering essential, life-changing services to people impacted by eating disorders.

This year’s effort is being championed by Cathy Fitzgibbon, President of Network Ireland Cork and founder of The Culinary Celt, who is leading the charge to raise awareness and funds for EDCC’s critical work in Cork and surrounding communities.

“Eating disorders don’t just affect bodies – they shatter lives and silence voices. That’s why I’m proud to take part in this year’s Echo Mini Marathon in support of the Eating Disorder Centre Cork,” the Killavullen resident stated. “This incredible organisation gives hope where it’s needed most, offering compassion, expertise and a lifeline to those battling one of the most misunderstood illnesses of our time.”

“As a food advocate, I believe it’s important that we raise awareness, break the silence and support the life-changing services that EDCC provides here in Cork,” said Ms Fitzgibbon.

Founded in 2007 by a group of parents responding to the lack of specialised services outside Dublin, the Eating Disorder Centre Cork has since grown with the support of the HSE to become a vital resource for those impacted by eating disorders, offering therapy, dietetic support, and group programmes.

“The Eating Disorder Centre Cork is delighted that Cathy has selected our organisation to be her chosen charity for the 2025 Echo Mini Marathon,” said Anne Gaynor, Clinical Manager, EDCC. “The funds raised will allow us to provide the level of care needed to as many people as possible, regardless of their financial position. Network Ireland Cork’s support also means more people will hear about the work we do and the services we can provide.”
