Network Cork steps up to raise vital funds for St Luke’s Home Dementia Unit

Network Cork steps up for Echo Women’s Mini Marathon to raise vital funds for St Luke’s Home Dementia Unit.

Members of Network Ireland’s Cork Branch are lacing up their trainers to participate in this year’s Echo Women’s Mini Marathon on September 22nd. This inspiring collaboration between the businesswomen of Network Ireland and the St Luke’s Home and in particular, its Dementia Specific Unit, showcases their commitment to health, community and giving back to the region they serve.

St Luke’s Home Dementia Unit provides invaluable support and services to those affected by dementia, enhancing the quality of life for both residents and their families. The funds raised by Network Ireland Cork members will directly support these critical services, ensuring St Luke’s can continue delivering its exceptional care and innovative service model.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Susana Marambio, President of Network Cork , expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming event and acknowledged the support from her fellow members.

“I’ve seen first-hand how tough dementia is on both the person living with it and their family. When my dad passed away in Chile last December, the amazing support he got from a place like St Luke’s made a huge difference to us all. Sadly, dementia affects so many people, either directly or indirectly, which is why Network Cork is fundraising for St Luke’s this year. I’m really proud of how many members are joining us to raise money and have a good time at this fantastic event,” she said.

Tony O’Brien, CEO of St Luke’s Home, paid tribute to the generosity of businesses and the people of Cork for consistently helping them to meet their fundraising requirements.

“We’re one of Ireland’s and Cork’s oldest residential care homes but providing our services at the expected level requires a continued focus and drive on our fundraising requirements each year. Our annual fundraising target is €600,000 and we need all the help we can get. We are delighted to have the support of Network Cork in this year’s Women’s Mini Marathon and we are grateful for their commitment to our cause,” he said.
