The Nano Nagle Centre and The Killavullen Farmers’ market will be having their annual Open Day on Saturday, October 12 from 10.30am-1pm.
This year’s theme is a Harvest Fair where they will be looking for the best grown organic/spray free fruit & vegetables in the North Cork area. There will also be a baking and floral display competition. All entries are to be submitted between 10-10.30am on the day with all produce to be collected at 1pm. Judging will be between 11am and 12 noon. Entry fee is €2 with prizes for the best in each category.
The centre will also be showcasing their range of courses for the coming year including their new range of cookery courses in their new demonstration kitchen. Starting on October 5 is a Sea Weed workshop with renowned Sea Gardener, Marie Dunne. Participants will learn how seaweed can be used in everyday recipes, in the bath and in the garden.
Starting on Thursday October 10 is a sustainable cookery course running for 6 weeks. Participants will learn how to source and cook delicious food within a budget. This course is ideal for those learning how to cook or starting a home. On October 16, the very popular preserving workshop returns focusing on autumn fruits.
This event is free of charge and all are welcome. The Nano Nagle centre is a non-profit making organization.
