The National Ploughing Championships gave entrepreneur Valerie Sheehy from Ballyporeen the perfect opportunity to showcase her MyPoncho, a unique rain jacket in county or club colours.

The product first got national exposure when Valerie featured on Dragon’s Den earlier this year and secured investments from Barry O’Sullivan and Peter Casey.

Speaking about the product, she said that everyone who saw it thought it was a great idea and there was a lot of interest from GAA fans and also corporate groups and smaller clubs.

“I had a great position in the Leader village and everyone that passed thought it was a great idea,” Valerie said, while Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin also seemed very enthusiastic about the novel product.

One of the things, which inspired the idea for the poncho, was seeing people cover up their jerseys and county colours when it’s raining. Her poncho would be the perfect solution.

Valerie expects to have her first stock delivery in early November and while her strength will lie in online sales, she will also be stocking the product in selected stores.
