Munster Technological University (MTU) has been selected as the host for this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na Mumham (Munster Fleadh Cheoil) competitions, which will take place on MTU’s Bishopstown Campus in Cork from July 12th to 19th July, as part of the wider Fleadh programme in Cork city this summer.

More than 3,000 competitors and 15,000 visitors are set to converge on Cork as a result of the event.

The Munster Fleadh Cheoil remains a cornerstone event in the Irish cultural calendar, with a proud tradition of rotating host towns and cities across the province. The continued success of Comhaltas and the growing popularity of Fleadh Cheoil events at county, provincial, and national level, have created an increased need for venues capable of supporting expanding participation.

Following MTU’s previous involvement with the Munster Fleadh Cheoil in 2017 at the Cork School of Music and again in 2023 in the Kerry North Campus, the university is proud to once again play a central role in this vibrant celebration of Irish traditional music and culture.

With modern, state-of-the-art facilities, key venues on campus will include the 1,200-seat MTU Arena, the Rory Gallagher Theatre, and the recently refurbished Carmine Building. In addition, city centre events, such as the Fleadh launch concert scheduled to take place in the MTU Cork School of Music in July, will further enrich the cultural offerings available to the public.

Featuring four days of competitions at MTU’s Bishopstown Campus, 3,000 competitors across music, singing, dancing, scéalaíocht and comhrá Gaeilge will participate, with some 300 volunteers involved in the week-long festival.
