The decision by Cork County Council to grant planning permisson for a major new 24-hour service station at Junction 14 of the N8 near Moorepark, Fermoy, has been appealed to An Bord Pleanala.
A number of objectors have lodged appeals to the plan by Kilworth-based company JR Oronco, headed by local businessmen Richie O'Flynn and James O'Hanlon.
Among the objectors are Applegreen Service Areas Ltd. who were themselves granted planning permission by Cork County Council just a fortnight ago for a very similar development a short distance away at Junction 13 of the M8 at Gortnahown, Mitchelstown.
The other objectors are Liam Fitzgerald of Amber Oil and David Ryan, owner and operator of Amber Service Station which is located close to the planned development at Junction 14 and a local consultant engineer and solicitor.
JR Oronco meanwhile are also listed as appellants in an appeal to the planning appeals board - in their case appealing Cork County Council's decision to refuse them planning permission for a drive-thru restaurant as part of their development.
The case is listed for a decision by January 31st next year.
