Gardai raided a business premises in the Fermoy Garda District last week during a search operation targeting alleged money laundering in North Cork. 

The operation took place last Thursday and saw detectives from the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau based in Dublin, travel to the town to carry out the searches. They were backed up by local uniform and detective gardai including armed support unit members. 

Sources have said that the operation was targeting people suspected of involvement in money laundering for an organised crime group.

“An investigation has found evidence that at least two people in the North Cork area have been involved in some suspicious financial irregularities which investigators suspect is money laundering…”
