At the weekend, former classmates gathered together as some travelled from all corners of the world to remember their school days together in a reunion in Mitchelstown for the three secondary schools.

There were people who had travelled over from the UK, Holland, Australia and America and the reunion brought the students from CBS, St Fanahan's and Presentation Secondary Schools together since they were in school between 1975 and 1988.

The reunion began with a Mass in the Parish Church, celebrated by Fr Fitzgerald with Noreen Helen and her choir and Pat McEvoy lending to the celebrations, while there was a special moment as past pupils and teachers who have passed away were remembered in their prayers.

There was a lot of reminiscing, as the former pupils and teachers looked back nostigically on the days gone by and compared stories on the paths that their lives took once they left the school gates behind them.

The huge turnout was thanks to the hard work and dedication of the main organiser, Michelle Walsh, who was assisted by Susan Griffin, Johnny Walsh, Barbara O'Sullivan and Eilis Watson.

The organisers would like to thank John Cleary of Walsh's Yard Bar for providing the venue, DJ Pat Ronan who did the music and past pupil, Tony Mullally of The Hunter's Rest who provided the food.

All of the elements combined gave way for a great night of memories and entertainment, as friendships were rekindled and new ones were forged. The classes are now looking forward to their next reunion.
