A perfectly still evening, a huge crowd and a great buzz of excitement in New Market Square last Saturday for the official switching on of the Christmas lights in Mitchelstown.
Those responsible for the illumination project include Mitchelstown Business Association in association with Cork County Council, who were formally represented by senior staff members, Margaret O’Donoghue and Catherine Rea.
Mitchelstown Business Association chairperson, Claudia Matassa, Justin Finn, Martin Lane and Sam Hyland were all to the fore in organising, what was a hugely enjoyable event. Mitchelstown Fire Brigade, Mitchelstown Gardai, members of The Morning Star Vintage Club, along with the trio of Santa, Mrs Claus and the Mitchelstown Grinch all played key roles.
