Hopes are high that the former convent building in Mitchelstown will finally be bought when it goes for auction on May 24. The building has an AMV (advised minimum value) of €200,000.
A sale for the property was confirmed by Fermoy Municipal District in 2016 but plans for the site failed to materialise and the structure has since fallen into further dereliction.
Many of the historic features of the convent have been vandalised over the past few years and practically all of the beautiful stain-glass windows have been broken.
