Last Friday a plaque in memory of Michael Collins was unveiled in the borough of Islington in London, where in 1909 the Irish leader joined the IRB in Barnsbury Hall. The unveiling was attended by Kilworth man Noel Scannell, a member of The Collins 22 Society as well as Glanworth councillor Frank O’Flynn, who was representing Cork County Council in his role as Mayor of the county.
They were joined by Cllr Colette Finn, Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork City.
Islington Council, working jointly with the Terence MacSwiney Committee in London, organised the unveiling to remember the historic event in 1909 when Michael Collins was inducted into the IRB through Sam Maguire, he of the famous Cup.
