Marie proud of ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’

The Cummins’ family from Thurles in County Tipperary have been crowned as Ireland’s Fittest Family for 2016, after coming out on top in the final of the hit RTÉ programme last weekend.

Filmed during the summer, siblings Ciara, Mark and Henry joined their father Jim, whose sister Marie Russell lives in Ballindangan, in the nationwide competition.

Speaking to The Avondhu, Jim said it was 19-year-old Ciara who entered the family into the competition back in May.

“She went to the Ursuline school in Thurles and she is in DCU now doing Athletic Therapy and Training. She’s into sport in a big way. She got Sports Person of the Year when she was in the Ursuline school.
