Visitors to the Mallow College of Further Education Open Night were recently given a comprehensive run-down on the 30-plus available courses, as well as a chance to see the first-rate facilities, in the college.

Teachers in the college were on hand to introduce potential students to the wide-ranging courses and to provide them with details about what each course entails. Among the courses available are Nursing Studies, Sports Recreation & Injury Therapy, Animal Care, Hairdressing, Applied Social Studies, Business Administration, as well as diplomas in Beauty Therapy & Body Therapy.

According to Principal Denis Healy: “We are proud to be one of the largest providers of further education in Munster and our sustained growth over recent years indicates our continuing ambition to providing the highest standards so that our students may attain their goals.

“Our teachers are highly motivated by the prospect of enabling students to fulfil their potential and are innovative in their use of different methodologies towards effective teaching and learning, including the utilisation of the most up-to-date software and technology in the classroom.”

The college offers purpose-built facilities, including hairdressing training salons, beauty therapy salons, complementary therapy and sports injury treatment rooms, animal care clinic and grooming rooms, as well as a sound engineering control room and studio, where students can gain and develop practical skills and experience.

All students at the college are provided with access to the state-of-the-art computer facilities, complete with broadband Internet. The campus also operates a computer resource library, where students can avail of computers in their free time. Furthmore, the campus has its own canteen facilities and provides free, on-site parking to all students.
