Major development announced for Kilfinane

An artist's impression of what the restored building will look like, should the council's plans go ahead.

Limerick City and County Council have publicly posted their plans for the derelict Market House building in the Square in Kilfinane, where the intention is to renovate the building for future community use.

The building is listed on the record of protected structures, and the council foresee restoring the roof to its natural slate finish, and to retain and restore the red sandstone masonry walls. They also intend to keep all the stone authentic features of the building.

On a first floor extension there are details of three arched timber sash windows to face out on to the square, and floor-to-ceiling glazing on the Captain’s Lane side of the building. There are further plans for a contemporary two-storey extension to the rear of the building.
