Around 100 members of the Defence Forces were in Lynch Camp, Kilworth last Friday as they took part in the annual Army shooting competition finals.
Soldiers representing units from around the country took part in various individual and team events with a variety of different weapons, including rifles, general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) and pistols.
Paul Kehoe, the minister with responsibility for defence was in Cork to witness the competition, as was Defence Forces Chief of Staff, Admiral Mark Mellett. Captain Eamonn Kenneally claimed the pistol competition for the 10th time in a row, while the falling plates competition was won, in dramatic circumstances, by the 1st Infantry Brigade from Galway.
