As the national response to Covid-19 evolved last week, images of a notice circulated on a number of media platforms indicating that the Irish Defence Forces were in the process of preparing personnel for possible deployment.

The statement called on troops to be ‘packed and ready for deployment with an immediate notice to move’.

It is understood that Lynch Camp in Kilworth is being considered by the army along with those in the Glen of Imaal (Wicklow) and Kilbride in the Dublin Mountains, to act as treatment centres for virus sufferers.
