2nd year Loreto student Caroline Roche’s work ‘Wild Poppies’ which came third in the 15-year-old’s age category in the Texaco Art Competition. It’s a mixed media work with the flowers done in fabric and the stems in wool against a pastel background.

Second year Loreto student Caroline Roche numbered among the prize winners announced in the Texaco art competition this week.

15-year-old Caroline, from Ballyclough, Kilworth came third in her age category for her mixed media work 'Wild Poppies'. Against a background done in pastels, Caroline created the stems of the flowers from wool which she then painted in oil pastels. The flowers were made from fabric.

Caroline is studying art for her Junior Cert under art teacher Eleanor Curtin. She will attend the presentation of prizes for winners in the prestigious annual competition in Dublin next month.
