An appeal has been lodged with An Bord Pleanála following the decision by Cork County Council to grant planning permission to Perks Funfair Ltd for the development of an amusement arcade in Fermoy.

As well as the official appeal made by Cllr Noel McCarthy, a number of residents in the Beechfield Estate in the town are expected to lodge their own observations opposing the planning decision.

Last month Cork County Council granted planning permission for the change of use of retail shop to amusement arcade to Perks Funfair at Unit 1 within the Blackwater Shopping Centre ion the northside of the town.

Prior to this, over 70 residents of Beechfield signed a petition opposing the application while a number of individual residents lodged their own objections.

An Bord Pleanála will now consider the appeal and the residents’ observations before making a final decision on the proposed development.
