With the countdown on for the 17th annual Tour de Munster charity cycle in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland and individual beneficiaries, over 100 cyclists are geared up for the four day cycle across Munster, which will kick-off from City Hall in Cork City next Thursday, 10th August.
Travelling over 600km in just four days, the amateur cyclists will make their way through beautiful cities, towns and villages of all six counties of Munster, including passing through several towns and villages on stage one of their long journey.
Departing from the Silver Springs Hotel in Cork between 8am-8.45am on Thursday next, August 10th, participants will make their way on to Midleton, before passing through Tallow (approx. 11.40am), then making their way to Lismore, where participants will break for refreshments in the Millennium Park between 12.10 and 12.30pm.
It’s then onto Clogheen across the border, with a stop at the community hall, estimated to arrive for 1.25pm-2pm. On the final leg of their day one journey, cyclists will make their way onto Cahir, Tipperary and Limerick before finishing stage one at the Lakeside Hotel, Killaloe.
Stage 2 on Friday 11th will move from Killaloe, Co Clare finishing in Tralee, Co Kerry, while day 3 on Saturday 12th moves from Tralee to Kenmare. Rounding off the 4-day trek, cyclists will finish back at their original starting point, at the Clayton Silver Springs Hotel in Cork on Sunday, August 13th.
