Fianna Fáil TD for Cork East, Kevin O’Keeffe has asked can we expect people to continue to use Bus Éireann services if they are not kept clean and tidy for customers? Deputy O’Keeffe was commenting after a video emerged in the past 24 hours showing a vehicle used on the 245 route from Mitchelstown to Cork City in what he claims to be ‘a terrible state’.

“It’s just not on. People pay a lot of money to use Bus Éireann. The least they can expect is a clean and tidy bus. Bus Éireann needs to get their house in order and ensure that every bus is cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis. Not doing this will run the risk of customers choosing to make alternative plans for travelling to the city.”

Mr O’Keeffe who has written to Bus Éireann in relation to this issue, said buses that are not clean will only serve to ‘erode the company’s financial base and risk route viability in rural Ireland into the future’.
