A teacher from Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown is preparing to represent Ireland at the upcoming World Masters Swimming Championships, which take place in Doha, Qatar, at the end of the month.
Claire O’Connell, a native of Kerry but living in Emly in County Tipperary, will be competing in the 50 metre, 100 metre and 200 metre breaststroke competitions, as well as the 200 metre medley.
The local teacher swims with the Kingdom Master Swim Club based in Tralee, but trains six times a week at the Sean Treacy Memorial Swimming Pool in Tipperary Town.
