Local defence force members receive mission medals in Syria

Two local soldiers deployed to Syria with the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) recently received their mission medals from Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri of Ghana who is currently the head of UNDOF. 

Company Sergeant Ray Moynihan from Kilworth and Sergeant Trevor McGahern from Fermoy have completed a total of 15 six month trips overseas with the Irish Defence Forces between them, and this is their second time in Syria with UNDOF.

Sergeant Moynihan and Sergeant McGahern are part of the 58th Irish Infantry Group which comprises of 130 Irish soldiers and the pair have completed over five and a half months in Syria.
