Classrooms around West Waterford have been alive with the sound of music this past week.
Children at Lismore's Bunscoil Bhothar na Naomh, Ballyduff National School, Scoil Mhuire Tallow, Cappoquin Primary School and Aglish National School have benefitted from opera music workshops provided by outstanding classical musicians, considered as some of the very best in Ireland.
The roving troupe, known as the ‘Mobile Music Machine’ with soprano Sandra Oman, cellist Gerald Peregrine, violinist Lynda O’Connor and violist Andrea Banciu, aim to foster a sense of music appreciation within local primary school children, their families and the wider community.
Gerald Peregrine who developed the workshops almost 9 years ago, said that bringing classical music into the children’s own environment of the classroom makes it a whole new experience.
