Little Emily Byrne from Knockanore, just outside Tallow is in great form and doing very well after an essential liver transplant donated by John Fenton, a life-long family friend of Sean and Ann-Marie Byrne.
Emily, who is now nearly 2 years old, was diagnosed with a condition called biliary atresia, a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts when she was just over 3 months old.
When an initial surgery was unsuccessful, it became clear that Emily was in need of a liver transplant and was added to the list in Kings College Hospital in London Emily spent four and a half weeks in London towards the end of 2017 and a lot of time in Crumlin and CUH.
