‘Levels of accountability aren’t equal’

“For Carraig na bhFear to come 12th out of 173 settlements that we could have put forward and for Uisce Eireann to cast some sort of aspersion on it that 12 wasn’t good enough, I reject it. It just doesn’t add up,” Chief Executive of Cork County Council, Valerie O’Sullivan stated this week.

This comes in the wake of correspondence received by the council regarding a motion that was tabled in relation to the village’s wastewater treatment plant.

The motion, tabled by Cllr Sinead Sheppard, sought that the council write to Irish Water (now Uisce Éireann) on behalf of the Cobh Municipal District to request that Carraig na bhFear be seriously considered for works to be undertaken as a matter of urgency on the wastewater treatment plant for the village and surrounding areas.
