The village of Kildorrery should be upheld as an example of how a rural community can survive the recession, but unresolved water issues there are not helping its progress, a local councillor has said.
Cllr Kay Dawson, this week at a meeting of Cork County Council’s Northern Committee, said the problematic water in Kildorrery needs to be addressed if the village is to continue its recovery.
“I really need to commend the people of Kildorrery, they should be used as a model of best practice on how to survive the recession. They have kept up business, there is a restaurant and a hair dressers in the town, but they cannot keep going without this service, water is vital,” she said.
